China Resources Group participates in the Symposium on Hong Kong Business Community’s Involvement in the Belt and Road Initiative

On September 8, the Symposium on Hong Kong Business Community’s Boosting Development Momentum and Involvement in the Belt and Road Initiative, co-organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and seven chambers of commerce in Hong Kong, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of HKSAR, and Luo Huining, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Representatives from 13 enterprises, including China Resources Group, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Swire Group and HKT Limited, were invited to speak at the symposium. Wang Chuncheng, Vice General Manager attended and delivered a keynote speech on behalf of China Resources Group.

John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of HKSAR said in his speech that President Xi Jinping’s speech during his visit to Hong Kong on July 1 had provided a clear blueprint for Hong Kong’s development. In his speech at the Belt and Road Summit, Han Zheng, Vice Premier supported and encouraged Hong Kong to play a vital role in participating in and contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative. Hong Kong is a participant, a contributor and a beneficiary of the Belt and Road Initiative, therefore,

HKSAR Government will continue to promote Hong Kong businesses and service providers to participate in the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative and enhance international competitiveness and influence, in a bid to serve the country while developing Hong Kong.

Director Luo Huining pointed out in his speech that President Xi Jinping’s speech in Hong Kong on July 1 this year has set a direction for the future development of Hong Kong. Since then, all sectors of Hong Kong, including businesses and service providers, have been learning and responding to the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech and Vice Premier Han Zheng’s hope for Hong Kong to contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative, and businesses have been planning and pursuing new development. There are nearly 1.4 million enterprises in Hong Kong, which are the mainstay of Hong Kong’s economic development and prosperity. It’s believed that enterprises and professionals will make big successes as long as they grasp new opportunities in developing Hong Kong.

Vice General Manager Wang Chuncheng said in his speech that China Resources Group, with CR Enterprise as the main platform for business in Hong Kong, is committed to developing strategic emerging business and innovative technology business in Hong Kong, shaping an innovation advantage in Hong Kong. In the future, China Resources Group will continue to implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech on July 1 in Hong Kong and Vice Premier Han Zheng’s keynote speech at the Belt and Road Summit, integrate Hong Kong’s plan of development into China’s overall development strategies, and promote cooperation in R&D, innovative technology and talent flow between Hong Kong and the Mainland so as to realize cross-border transformation of research results. China Resources Group will continue to expand cooperation with universities and research institutions in Hong Kong, and make achievements in the fields of life and health, smart energy, precision manufacturing, advanced semiconductors and new materials. It will explore a joint innovation-incubation mechanism with China Resources Group’s characteristics, so as to contribute to the transformation and upgrading of Hong Kong economy.

Yin Zonghua, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR, and Peter Lam Kin-ngok, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, attended the symposium. The symposium, which was attended by more than 120 persons in charge of Hong Kong-funded, foreign-funded and Chinese-funded enterprises and chambers of commerce, was the largest networking event organized by Hong Kong enterprises since President Xi Jinping visited Hong Kong and delivered a speech on July 1 this year.
