Firmly Supports the Decision to Improve Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Electoral System

The Fourth Session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) started in the Great Hall of the People on 5 March 2021. According to the agenda, the meeting will review the motion of the Standing Committee of the NPC (NPCSC) on submitting the "Draft Decision of the National People's Congress on Improving the Electoral System of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" for deliberation.

Recent chaos in Hong Kong have revealed obvious loopholes and defects in the current election system in the city, thus necessary actions have to be taken to improve Hong Kong’s election system to ensure that "Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong" with patriotism as the core, as well as law-based and effective governance.

China Resources Group believes that the decision will effectively maintain the constitutional order established by the Constitution and the Basic Law. Nonetheless, the various deep-rooted problems can only be effectively resolved through implementing "patriots administering Hong Kong" in a view to achieve long-term stability of the special administrative region. With a strong foothold in Hong Kong for 83 years, China Resources has been participating in and witnessing the growth and evolution of Hong Kong over the decades. China Resources will, as always, firmly support and resolutely uphold the decisions of the Central Government, and work with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the general public to contribute to the stability and long-term development of "One Country, Two Systems" for a brighter future.
