On September 13, the SASAC published the Ranking of Central Enterprises by Patents in 2012 on the basis of the survey of technological development in 2012. Of all central enterprises, CR was ranked 50th in terms of accumulated valid patents with 887 valid patents registered in 2012, 37th in terms of valid invention patents, with 370 valid invention patent registered, and 30th in terms of patent application and granting. CR has seen significant promotion in all the above-mentioned lists.

It is reported that in 2012 central enterprises saw significant increases in patent applications and grants. As of the end of 2012, central enterprises have been collectively granted 192,646 valid patents, an increase of 33.0% over the previous year, including 56,477 valid invention patents, an increase of 37.9% over the previous year, accounting for 29.3% of the total valid patents.
